The equipment engineering position will focus on technology innovation, development, integration, and demonstration of new tooling, automation, and processing technologies for current and future CommScope products, thus improving quality, cycle time and profitability. The ideal candidate will be able to produce conceptual mechanical designs using outstanding creativity and ingenuity with a strong level of understanding in electrical controls and software. We will encourage you to collaborate across multiple internal functional departments and with internal/external customers and suppliers to develop partnerships, allowing rapid development and demonstrate new technology concepts and solutions. More specifically this will include:
Converting production challenges into creative and inventive solutions by collaborating and leading brainstorms in a multi-disciplinary team Develop, build, and test semi-automated equipment and processes for fiber optic manufacturing for our global facilities using 3D modeling software; preferable SolidWorks or Creo Analyze test data and use statistical tools to prove capability of feasibility setups and final production equipment Taking a leading role in collaboration with manufacturing, controls, and process engineering team members to drive completion of projects on time and within budget Contribute to the intellectual property portfolio through trade secrets, patents and invention disclosures that have immediate or future potential benefit to the company Travel to global production locations to support development and deployment Required Qualifications for Consideration:
Bachelor's degree with at least 8 years of engineering experience Experience designing tooling and automation systems using CREO or SolidWorks from sketch to drawing with a focus on manufacturability and ease of maintenance Ability to perform tolerance analysis on products and processes and use GD&T methods in equipment development to guarantee a first-time right solution Data Analysis skills using Excel or Minitab and experience use statistical methods to assess process performance prior to and during machine development. Proficiency with current MS Office applications You Will Excite Us If You Have:
Experience in leading or coaching a small technical team. Experience in designing and programming PLC-based control or vision systems. Worked with Fiber Optics. Lean Six Sigma black or green belt certification. Been in a hands-on role where you built the equipment yourself. Demonstrated interpersonal abilities to collaborate in a global organization.
